August 2006 - Visiting Brighton with Chandra Beal

After such a busy summer, Parsley decided to jog down to Brighton for the August bank holiday for some leisure time by the seaside. But wouldn’t you know it, it poured with rain the first day of his holiday! Luckily his host was Chandra Beal, author of The Relaxed Rabbit: Massage For Your Pet Bunny, so Parsley enjoyed a relaxing massage while the rain fell outside.

Perhaps the ear massage was the best bit of all!

The next day, Parsley joined the Sussex Hopper Group for their volunteer day at the Brighton RSCPA. The group helped clean out the cages in the rabbit room and groomed and cuddled all the bunnies there waiting for homes. Here’s Parsley lending a hand.

And here’s Parsley doing his ambassador job, chatting up one of the rescue buns to let her know that there are kind rabbit-loving people out there who will take care of her.

After all the hard work at the RSPCA, Parsley joined the Hopper Group at the pub for a pint and some grub. Here he joins Simon, Chris and Tom in a discussion about manly things.

When the sunshine returned, Sir Parsley headed straight for Brighton Pier. Here he is strolling along the pier with the other tourists.

It was such a fine day, Parsley decided a ride on the carousel was in order. Wheeee! Hold on, Parsley!!

Strolling down the promenade, we stumbled across an antique penny arcade. Here Parsley watches the girlie movie. “Hey! That’s not a doe!”

Parsley checks himself out in the hall of mirrors. “Do my ears look big in this?”

We stopped to sit on the beach and watch the waves roll in. “Ah, this is lovely!”

But we spent too much time daydreaming on the beach. Realizing that we’d be late for a circus performance that evening, Parsley hailed one of Brighton’s new tuc-tucs. “Where to, mister?” Hove, actually!

Parsley enjoyed the circus very much, seeing acrobats and gymnasts, trapeze artists and clowns.

He wondered about running away from it all and joining up. He’d do the high wire act, balancing with his ears. Here he is chatting with the ringmaster about it. But alas, Sir Parsley’s work for Bobtail’s isn’t finished yet, and he headed back to the guest house.

To cap off a splendid day, Parsley relaxed with a game of Scrabble, humans versus the rabbit team. Here Parsley confers with Dexter and Emma, both former residents of Bobtail’s, about the next move. Oh dear, what’s happened to the letters? That’s not why it’s called Scrabble, Dexter!

It was a fun but long day for ol’ Parsley, so he retired to his room with a stick of Brighton Rock, and dozed off to sweet carrot dreams.
