April 2007 - The 4 seasons of gardening - Season 2 - Spring

Oh
dear, I was too late to see the irises. They have all died.
But
these look great. It makes up for missing the rabbit basket
at its best.
These
cabbages have not grown very well since I planted them out
in November. How can I break the news to Clem & Arthur………
Hey,
guys. Bad news I am afraid. I could sow something else you
will like……
Hope
these will be ready for my next visit to cheer the 2 Bobtails
bunnies up.
Now
for more seed sowing. Some flowers and some vegetables.
Another
bunny favourite – French beans! Yummy.
Now
I have to plant some broad beans. I have never had any of these
to eat. I wonder if bunnies like to eat them.
Now
they are all in a straightish line, they must be watered in
- with a little help from a tall friend. Now for some companion
gardening………
No
not a photo of me with other furry friends, but……
Flowers that grow alongside veggies, such as marigolds. They
attract beneficial insects like hoverflies etc, to eat all those
nasty aphids which attack young veg plants.
Wow!
Look at the seeds I sowed 2 weeks ago. That was quick. And
finally… |
I must sow
Auntie Karen’s cucumber seeds that she requested,
before I go back to her at The Rabbit House. Fingers crossed
they all grow.
