Results 2004 Wallingford Head 5th December 2004
The results of Wallingford Head that took place today, have now
been published here.
The Staines results that show striking consistancy in the 2 WS3 crews
are -- Walton Small Boats Head 4th December 2004
Rob Oades reports on the junior entrants ----- The Juniors raced four
doubles today at the Walton Small Boats Head. Rebecca Corless and Rachel
Edwards came 6th in the WJ16 2x category, clocking a time of 13.00.
Rob Oades and Nick Pollen came 3rd in the MJ15 2x event in a time of
11.24. Charlotte Morrison and Emma Parks came 2nd in the WJ15 2x - missing
the pot by 4 seconds (12.24). But the junior result of the day goes
to the MJ12 crew of Andrew Frost and Thomas Oades who came 1st in an
impressive time of 13.24, over 30 seconds ahead of the second placed
crew. This time would have also won the MJ13 catagory. Well done to
all crew's and thanks to Ted, Smiffy, Jeremy, Bob the Dog and all supporting
parents. Scullers Head 20th November 2004
The final results of today's Scullers Head 2004 have now been
published here.
The results for the Staines scullers are as follows: Tiffin Small Boats Head 13th November 2004
The Tiffin Small Boats Head took place today in bright sunshine. Several
Staines crews took part including the ME 4- who were the third fastest
four of the event. The Staines results are as follows --- Veteran's Head of the River Fours 7th November 2004 Clare Wood reports ----- The results are finally up! Vet D 4- Roland, Richard, Mike and Andy W Finished 45th in a time of 22:28 (5th of 10). They had a good strong row, and Andy steered them well down the course! They were a bit disappointed at having to drop to light pressure at one point as they got caught in a bottle neck. Vet B 4+ Alan, Andy M, Andy S and James coxed by Clare finished 46th in a time of 22:30 (4th of 7). They also had a good steady row but thought they lacked there usual spark. Overall a good day Well done everyone Pangbourne Junior Sculls 6th November 2004
Pangbourne Junior Sculls took place today with several medals for Staines
and Sir William Perkins's School crews. Results are -- Head of the River Fours 6th November 2004
The Head of the River Fours took place today. Results for Staines
crews are -- Weybridge Silver Sculls 16th October 2004
Rob Oades reports ----- The Junior Squad acquitted themselves well
at this weekends Weybridge Silver Sculls. All crews were very competitive
against strong opposition. Charlotte Morrison competing at J15 1x was
the only single sculler competing for the Juniors, coming 5th out of
13 in a time of 18:49. All other crews were double sculls. Rachel Edwards
and Rebecca Corless came 3rd out of 5 in a time of 17:18 in the WJ16
2x. Jenny Goldswain and Emma Corless did very well also coming 3rd in
their WJ 14 2x category (out of 13) in a time of 17:33. In the men's
racing, James Kell and Russell Vinson came 7th out of 7 in the difficult
Junior Maiden Category in a time of 16:04. Rob Oades and Nick Pollen
came 5th out of 23 in the large J15 2x field. Their time was 15:29.
But the result of the day goes too Tom Oades and Andrew Frost who came
2nd out of 7, rowing a year up in the J13 2x event. Their time was a
very good 18:43 considering it was their first long distance event.
Well done to all crews and thanks to Ted, Smiffy, Roy, Jeremy and many
parents for their support on the day. Boston Marathon 19th September 2004 Ali Lake reports ----- The Boston Marathon took place yesterday and we had 2 entries; Phil Ansley-Watson in a Scull and the infamous Octuple. The Octuple managed to pull themselves 31miles / 50KM from Lincoln to Boston in 4 hrs and 20 minutes and Phil managed a heroic 4hrs and 38 minutes. The Octuple as many of you know was collecting money for two very good causes, The Macmillan Trust and Staines Boat Club. We managed to raise a total of £1,500, that means £750 for SBC and £750 for Macmillan. We would like to thank everyone who sponsored us and let you know that now is the time to hand over that money!! Please pass on your sponsorship to anyone of the Boston Girls. Our Acknowledgements sounds like an Oscar speech but is very necessary! We would like to add a few very special thanks to all the people who made the Boston Marathon Possible. They are, in no particular order, Jackie Hawkins (who raised an impressive £121.00 at the Pubs & Clubs Regatta by handing round the Boston Marathon Bucket!), Steve Ballantine, Sarah Sweeney and the SWPS team for the use of their equipment, BA for the use of their equipment, Chris Plastow and all the various subs we borrowed through the training period. We would also like to extend extra special thanks to Mike Piper who organised the mini bus, ferried us around on the day and offered his support along the course, Bob Slade who invested much of his time in coaching us, our 'Super Subs' Gayle and Sally who drove all the way to Boston to support us and finally Eugene Broderick of Blaze Construction who loaned us the minibus, installed a tow bar and paid for the petrol - a huge thank you to him. See the official results. Splash and Dash Regatta 18th September 2004 Liz Bernard and Rob Oades report ----- Staines Juniors, SWPS, Men's Vet crew, parents and families had a great day out at Swindon Splash and Dash Regatta held at Coate Water Country Park, Swindon. Despite the very windy conditions in the morning, and then a downpour, all crews put up a very good performance. Six gold medals were won by the Staines Juniors in great style to bring the seasons victory total to 38. The first victory of the day came in the J15 1x with Rob Oades an easy winner. This was soon followed by Emma Corless and Jenny Goldswain in the WJ13 2x. A third straight victory was denied by a canvas as Rebecca Corless and Steve Brett came second in the Mixed Junior 2x. However, this was soon followed by victory in the WJ15 2x by Charlotte Morrison and Emma Parkes, beating the two SWPS crews in the process. The J12 1x final saw all three Staines crews, Tom Oades, Andrew Frost and Michael Lusty, through to the final. Victory went to Tom Oades, his first single sculls victory. Andrew Frost did not have long to wait for a gold medal as he then teamed up with Emma Corless to win the Mixed J13 2x. James Kell came a close second in his J14 1x final. The final victory of the day, came in the final race of the Regatta when the "Love Boat" of Rob Oades and Rachel Edwards won the Mixed J16 2x, again in an all Staines final against Charlotte Morrison and James Kell and Nick Pollen and Emma Parks. All the mixed crews did fantastically well, having only had one practise outing each. We must not forget the brave performance of Jeremy Pollen and his son Nick in the Fam 2x event. They reached the semi-final, but Nick could no longer pull his dad along. The St John's Ambulance staff were not needed for Jeremy thank goodness. Thanks again to all Mum's and Dad's for their support and to the coach's Peter Smith, Ted Dyos and Jeremy Pollen. Thanks also to SWPS parents for help with the boats and with towing. The Juniors had the honour today of rowing with the Veterans Squad. Three victories were gained here. The Vet D coxed four started things off with a victory followed by Carol Goldswain in the Womens Vet Novice 1x. Carol then teamed up with a rather surprised Sarah Sweeney to win the Womens Vet Novice 2x. The victory went to Staines despite Sarah having to borrow a Molesey all in one !! All in all a fantastic days racing. Thanks goodness for a rest - but oh no - not the heads !!!!!!! Rob Oades (a very tired parent). Liz adds ---- The SWPS crews had some good heat wins and some very near misses in the finals, but the gold medal winners of the day were the WJ14 4x+. The crew consisted of Emma Townshend, Bethan Roberts, Charlotte Jackson, Ingrid Barnsley and coxed by Heather Stevenson. The Vet Junior Mxd Quad rowed extremely well especially considering that the very first stroke they had ever taken together as a crew, was the one off the start!! Sara Sweeney and Carol Goldswain won gold in the WVET NV 2x, despite taking the scenic route on the way down the course! An excellent day's racing and well done to all the crews. The full results will be available shortly on the official website. Also see Photographs Page. Cambridge Autumn Regatta 12th September 2004 Rob Oades reports ----- Today saw the excellent form shown by the Junior Squad at Evesham last weekend, continue at the Cambridge Autumn Regatta. Six finals were contested with 3 pots won (unusual all glass tankards). Rob Oades (J15 1x) gained the first victory of the day, bringing the total Junior wins for the season to 30. This was the target set by the Squad at the beginning of the season and is a fantastic achievement. More pots were gained by Charlotte Morrison in the WJ15 1x and by Jenny Goldswain and Emma Corless in the J13 2x. Total for the season so far therefore is 32. It could, with a little luck, have been six out of six. Rachel Edwards and Rebecca Corless lost the J15 2x final by a canvas and Thomas Oades was level in his J12 1x final when a loose slider brought an end to his chances. The unluckiest pair were Rob Oades and Nick Pollen in the J15 2x final. They were leading by half a length and pulling away when the race had to be stopped because of a cruiser ignoring all calls not to enter the racing course. The re-run saw Rob and Nick piped to the post by the Tideway Scullers pair by half a length. Many thanks again to all parents for fantastic support and to Peter Smith, Ted Dyos and Jeremy Pollen for their hard work during the day. Roll on the Splash and Dash Regatta next week. Full results will be available in due course from the official website. See Roy Frost's photos on the Ofoto website. Evesham Regattas 4-5th September 2004
Rob Oades emails ----- What a glorious week-end
of weather was enjoyed by the Junior Squad at the Evesham Regatta (4th
September - 1000m course) and the following days Evesham Sprint Regatta
(500m). The glories did not stop with the weather as the squad won eight
pots over the two days. Over the 1000m course on the Saturday 7 finals
were contested resulting in five victories - Jenny Goldswain and Emma
Corless in the WJ14 2x, Rob Oades in the J15 1x and Steve Brett in the
J18 1x. These were followed by wins in the WJ15 1x by Charlotte Morrison
and in the WJ16 2x by Rachel Edwards & Becky Corless. Finals were
also contested in the J14 1x by James Kell and Emma Parks and Charlotte
Morrison in the J15 2x. World Masters Regatta - Hamburg 2-5th September 2004 The Staines Veteran D Four returned from the World Masters Regatta in Hamburg this afternoon. Murray Litvak writes ----- The veteran boat beat a star studded field including ex Olympians and strokemen from both Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race crews but missed out on a gold medal by finishing second to the German crew from Bernburger Ruderclub by 1.8 seconds. The rest of the field included crews from the USA, France and Great Britain but the German and Staines crews were the only ones in contention. Rating 44 off the start, the Staines crew pulled back half a length from the Germans who had taken an early lead. At one point Staines were down by one foot and and with 250 metres to go it was a close duel between the two crews. With the rating never below 38 the crew of Paul Goldswain, Paul Hopkins, John Lusty, Graham Carey and coxswain, Murray Litvak fought hard to the end. So the record is Belgium 2000 a 4th place, Prague 2002 3rd and now Hamburg 2nd then Glasgow 2005, maybe - just maybe!!! Full results are available here. Also see Photographs Page. Oxford City Royal and Sprint Regattas 21st-22nd
August 2004 Luc Wilson writes ----- Oxford
City took place this weekend with several Staines crews competing and
such was the confidence that one member was heard to say, "If our
eight entries win we could win the Victor Ludorum again" Confidence
is an awful thing. As the majority of the top men and women's squads
were missing it was left to the Sprint squad to do their best over the
extra long distance. The day started promisingly enough with a first
round win for Ian Grant in his novice sculls over last years finalist
Philiby of Reading RC. Things soon took a dive with every other crew
failing to progress over the challenging 1000m course. There were however
some encouraging signs with the MS2- of Adam Gill and Mark Rolt coming
within one foot of beating a very strong City Of Oxford crew who had
reached quarter final level at Henley this year in the fours. The Men's
Novice four also made their debut but were somewhat hampered by an 82kg
Cox and first race nerves losing by under a length to a very strong
crew. Other crews competing on Saturday included Women's S4 Coxed four
(sorry didn't catch your race), Helge in sculls, Nick and myself in
S2 pairs and some vet competition. Sorry to any others competing. It
can however be said that the majority of the Staines contingent was
in the pub by 1.30pm.
Katy Burke and Diane Gill send their report from Oxford ----- The Women's S4 crew on Saturday consisted of Dom Foley (cox), Katy Burke, Anna Behrendt, Bonny Howes and Jackie Hawkins. In the first round they were drawn against Reading. Despite having a clean start and a good row the Reading crew proved to be very strong, pulling away from us gradually down the course. The final verdict was win for Reading by approx. 2 lengths. With subs being drafted in from Kent and Birmingham for the second day of racing, the Women's S4 crew on Sunday consisted of Caroline Gill (cox), Di Gill, Anna Behrendt, Bonny Howes and Jackie Hawkins. With a bye through the first round, the crew gave a good account of themselves in the semi final against Barnes Bridge Ladies, but lack of practice together saw them about two lengths down by the finish. One suspects that the late night disco dancing might also have had something to do with it! On the bank, spectators were kept amused on an extremely busy stretch of river with suspiciously few marshals and lots of near misses. The bend seemed to catch a lot of crews out and there was an impressive collision between a women's eight and a launch (which was tied to the bank at the time). At one point racing stopped to allow a bow girl to rescue a dog that had gone for a quick dip between races. Those about to race didn't miss out, as even the start tent ended up in the river. Despite the lack of pots, a fun weekend was had by all. David Dimes adds his report ----- "The Staines Men's squad
managed to send a somewhat depleted squad to race at Oxford at the weekend.
Saturday saw racing over a 1000m which discouraged the "Sprint
Squad" from entering in force but saw some small boat entries from
the more adventurous Senior squad members and a Novice 4+ entry The
Pair of Mark and Adam were unlucky not to progress beyond the first
round after 'running foul of the twisty course' while Luc and Nick suffered
a similar experience while losing to the eventual winners. The scullers
(Helge and Ian) and Novice four had mixed fortunes and early exits so
Staines were out of luck and rowers by early afternoon. On the plus
side the racing squad (and supporters) were all able to pace themselves
nicely for the evenings entertainment which saw the squad enjoying the
City of Oxford hospitality (beer and cheesy disco) and a red hot Dutch
floorshow from some Continental friends! Just ask Beefy, Smiler, Tank,
Pieman, Numpty or Cheeky Boy for details!..... Sunday saw large hangovers
but slightly more success (build that into your training plans Robin!)
The 500m course held greater appeal and we managed to enter a couple
of bigger boats. The S4 4+ of Julian, Nick, Dom and Dave rowed well
together (despite race 1 being their first outing as a crew) winning
through a couple of early rounds until coming unstuck in the semis to
Hertford. The S3 8+ (Luc, Adam, Nick, Julian, Dom, Ian, Tom B and Dave)
won through to the final but lost out narrowly to a strong Wallingford
crew. A big thankyou must go to Leanne for agreeing to Cox and she steered
brilliantly throughout the day after a minor "bush interface"
in an early (winning) round." Maidenhead Regatta 7th August 2004
Steve Tassell sends this
report from Maidenhead Regatta ----- Staines Ladies carried on their
purple patch at Maidenhead today winning Senior 3 eights. The crew consisted
of Dom Foley (cox), Katy Burke, Sarah Tassell, Jules Reichel, Suzanne
Reng, Alison Rolt, Lucy Duncombe, Dianne Gill and Jackie Hawkins. In
the first round we came up against Putney Town. With a confident start
we were up to a half length lead by the end of our stride. This was
further increased as the rating dropped to 34 crossing the line 1½
lengths up. In the final we raced Sons of The Thames. Again gaining
a lead off the start the ladies stayed in front all the way to the line
crossing a length up in the end. This was the only ladies crew racing
this weekend due to Maidenhead not giving Winner from Previous
regatta slots so unfortunately due to the wins at Henley T&V
last weekend we couldnt race the other combinations we had entered
due to their status change. Rumour has it though with the combined successes
of the men and juniors we managed to pick up the Victor Ludorum for
the most successful club! Well done everyone. Henley Town and Vistors Regatta 31st July 2004 Steve Tassell sends this report ----- Our second trip to Henley this year proved just as successful as the first but the quality of racing and the improvement made by so many individuals in the squad was what was so impressive to see. We entered two crews on the women's side. First up was the Senior 2 4+ which raced Thames, the crew consisting of Dom Foley (cox), Jules Reichel, Jen Page, Sarah Fudge and Sarah Tassell. Staines went off strong from the start gaining an early canvas lead. They then settled into a strong 34 and pulled out a 1/4 length lead. Thames then put in a big push to come back to level, Staines duly responded by putting in their own push gaining a 1/4 length lead again. From here they never looked back winning by 3/4 length at the finish. Impressive stuff this was their second outing together yet they rowed like they'd been together for months! The final was drawn against Eton Excelsior. Staines took a half length lead off the start and sat a length and a half up all the way down. Eton put in a push at the end to come back to 3/4 length but Staines remained calm to take the win. In the Senior 3 eights we had Dom Foley (cox), Katy Burke, Jen Page, Jules Reichel, Sarah Fudge, Cath Burke, Suzanne Reng, Dianne Gill and Sarah Tassell. We were drawn against HSBC in the first round and again the form from the four carried through to the eight gaining a strong start and getting half a length up by the 150m mark. This lead gradually built to 1 1/2 lengths in the end. The race itself was a bit nervy so we had to work on this for the final against Vesta. Vesta were employing a similar amount of mixing up of squads, whereby they had three Henley medal winners from their Senior eight the rest of the crew were made up from their senior and novice squads. Staines got off the start slightly up but Vesta were quick to respond pushing through to a canvas lead. Staines impressively took the rate down to row back through Vesta to gain back a canvas lead. From here they gradually lengthened out rowing powerfully to the finish. With Vesta never sitting more than half a length down this was impressive rowing under pressure. Staines hung on to a very well deserved win. There were three novices in the crew, Katy Burke, Cath Burke and Dianne Gill as this was a qualifying event this was their novice pot and what a way to win it! It's also worth noting that Suzanne Reng, Jules Reichel and Sarah Tassell who were also novices at the start of the season are now Senior 3 rowers and have notched up some 6 wins! Well done everyone! Full results are available on the regatta website. Also see Photographs Page. Burway Veteran and Junior Regatta 25th July 2004
Burway Veteran and Junior Regatta took place today with some fine wins
for Staines and Sir William Perkins's School crews. Staines Amateur Regatta 24th July 2004
Staines Regatta took place today in warm and sunny weather. Adam Gill
has just released the official results. They show wins for Staines crews
in the following events - Mens Senior III Eights - Womens Senior II
Coxed Fours - Mens Veteran B/C Coxed Fours - Mens Novice Double Sculls
- Mens Junior 14 Double Sculls - Mens Senior IV Sculls - Mens Junior
16 Sculls and Mens Junior 14 Sculls. Everyone agrees that it was a most
successful day. National Rowing Championships 16-18th July 2004 News just in from the National Rowing Championships is that the WJ14 2x of Charlotte Morrison and Emma Parks came 5th in their final in a time of 8:46.90 and the OJ 2x crew of Tom Goldswain and Steve Brett raced came 6th in their semi final in a time of 7:51.33 so did not qualify for the final. Steve Brett sends this report ----- The WJ14 2x, consisting of Emma Parkes and Charlotte Morrison did very well in their Friday eliminator, coming in second to Maidstone Invicta and not allowing Runcorn to overtake them. This ensured them a place in the final on Sunday. Tom Goldswain and I both felt that we had a very good race in our OJ 2x eliminator, even though we did come 4th out of 4. We were up against some very good, strong crews. This put us into the Repechage on Saturday, where we came 3rd out of 4, beating a crew from the Merchant Tailor's School. From this we managed to qualify for the Semi-Finals on Sunday, where we came 6th out of 6th. In the girls' final they stayed 2nd for a long part of the race, but eventually finished 5th. Well done to all crews, and thanks to all those involved. Full results are available on the official website. Molesey Amateur Regatta 17-18th July 2004
Sunday 18th July (Juniors) Rob Oades sends
this report from today's Molesey Regatta. ----- A fine days racing was
had by the Staines Junior Squad today at the Molesey Junior Regatta.
Eight events were entered and two semi-finals and three finals achieved.
Becky Corless and Rachel Edwards lost very close races in the first
round, both in their single scull (WJ14) races and when they doubled
up in the WJ 14 2X. Nick Pollen in J14 1x, who also doubled up with
Rob Oades in the J14 2x, also met the same fate as did Andrew Frost
and Thomas Oades in the J12 2x. James Kell reached the semi-final of
the J13 1x and Jenny Goldswain reached the same stage of the WJ12 1x.
In the final of the WJ12 2x Jenny Goldswain and Emma Corless were narrowly
beaten and the distance of 6 inches deprived Emma a victory in the WJ12
1x final - well rowed. The highlight of the day was Rob Oades victory
in the J14 1x event. Victories in 3 hard fought races gave Robert his
second pot of the season. Again well done to all the Junior rowers and
thanks too to all the parents who came along to help and support the
squad. Particular thanks go to coach Ted Dyos and Jeremy (tow-man) Pollen. Bedford Quarts Sprint Regatta 11th July 2004 Steve Tassell writes ----- Some great racing was had at Bedford this weekend with the Womens squad putting out three crews. The novice four consisting of Dom Foley (cox), Katy Burke, Helen Williams, Bonny Howes and Jackie Hawkins got off to a great start in their first round beating St.Neots by 4 lengths. Unfortunately though in the next round against Norwich RC the rudder was ripped off on the start pontoon as the four pulled away leaving them with no steering even more frustrating as despite having no steering they were a good 11/2 up after 100m before they inevitably steered off the course. The S3 eight faired much better despite half the crew having not regularly raced in the eight this season and most still being novice. The crew of Dom Foley (cox), Katy Burke, Sarah Tassell, Jules Reichel, Alison Rolt, Cath Burke, Helen Williams, Jane Hudson and Jackie Hawkins had a row over in the first round, beat Peterborough City by half a length in the semi-final and narrowly lost out to City of Cambridge in the final the official verdict being 1 foot. Lastly the pair of Jen Page and Alison Rolt who you may recall raced at Henley this year in lightweight pairs- made up for this disappointment by winning S2-. They never really looked troubled in any of their races winning by comfortable margins and starting to really move the boat well together. Well done to everyone for a great weekend of racing. Full results here. Kingston Amateur Regatta 10th July 2004 Ian Grant sends this report from the weekend's racing at Kingston Regatta ----- It was a disappointing and frustrating regatta for the members of the mens squad who travelled to Kingston. Stuart Simms lost out in his S3+ Single scull semi final in the morning. In the afternoon, the S2 4- of Mark Rolt, Max Somper, Mark Cashen and Fikret Ozer, had a straight 3 boat final when expecting a semi-final against Walton. At halfway, on the bend, Cygnet RC squeezed the four onto one of large, more solid metal buoys. They tried to recover but Cygnet RC came into them straight after, causing the race to be stopped. The umpire then decided to award Walton the win instead of a re-row which the crew were willing to do. The S1 8 of the 4- crew, Stuart Simms, Mike Owen, Ian Grant and Helge Neumeister were due to race in the evening in a striaght 3 boat final against Vesta and Kingston, which had the prospects of being a very close and agressive race. But after much debating it was decided to pull out for safety reasons as some marker bouys had moved, narrowing the course at the halfway point, and the race officials were not to keen to delay the race timetable to move some of the buoys. Full results here. Henley Veteran Regatta 9-10th July 2004 - Saturday
10th July 2004 Great news from today'sracing at Henley
Veteran Regatta. I am pleased to report that the D4+ comprising of Bow-Paul
Goldswain, 2-Paul Hopkins, 3-John Lusty, Stroke-Graham Carey and Coxswain-Murray
Litvak were victorious in their event and took home well deserved gold
medals. They won their semi final against Abingdon RC by 1/2 length,
again rowing through from 1/2 length behind and then faced the very
tidy Dart/ Totnes crew in the final. After a great start the Staines
crew had a canvas lead after the first minute and gradually pulled away
to finish 1 1/2 lengths clear. This is the second Henley Vets medal
for this crew after they won the Vet C4+ title in 2002. The coxless
pair of Roland Wood and Ian Harris also raced today in their first race
of the regatta since the crew from Abingdon RC withdrew from the first
heat. They drew the pair of ex Olympian Martin Cross (also the coach
of the Oxford crew in 'The Other Boat Race') and Ian McNuff a lightweight
World medallist in the 1980's. They nevertheless gave their all and
finished only a couple of lengths down. Friday 9th July 2004Here are Friday's Henley Veterans Regatta results ----- This morning the C4+ lost to Bradford-on-Avon by 1 1/4 lengths in a good race shortened slightly by the loss of the stakeboats. Apparently the umpires launch succeeded in entangling the anchor lines around it's propellor! During the afternoon the D4+ were beaten off the start in their first race and were 3/4 length down by 250 metres. They had a powerful mid section and rowed through the Derby RC crew to win by 2/3 length. The race times tomorrow are C2- Semi final - 1.25pm, Final - 5.32pm and the D4+ Semi final - 8.28am, Final - 2.36pm. Full results will be available soon on the official website. Also see Photographs Page. Henley Royal Regatta 30th June - 4th July 2004 Staines and London 'A' raced this morning (Wednesday) in the preliminary heats of the Thames Cup at Henley Royal Regatta. London 'A' won by 3 3/4 lengths. Times were Barrier - 2.00, Fawley - 3.22, Finish - 7.11 ----- Full results are available on the official website here. Egham Regatta 27th June 2004 Egham
Regatta took place today in at first sunny then rainy conditions. David
Dimes writes ----- With the men's Henley squad focusing on qualifying
, the "domestic " squad decided to spend the weekend getting
some race practice ..... the novice crew of Tom Blackman, Nick Hadwen
and Dave Dimes coxed by Penny Grey were bolstered by our "ringer"
Luc Wilson, whose points forced us to enter at S3. We enjoyed a morning
start and the best of the weather! In the semis Staines gained clear
water over Weybridge at the start and were able to hold the lead through
to the finish. In the final Staines managed another flier off the start
against a strong Walbrook crew. However, the experience and technique
of the Walbrook crew showed as they came back strongly over the second
half of the course, Staines narrowly edging them out by a "bow
ball" as one spectator described it. Congratulations to the whole
crew, for most their maiden qualifying win. Reading Town Regatta 26th June 2004 David Dimes writes ----- The novice crew of Dom South (Sat), Nick Hadwen and Dave Dimes coxed by Penny Grey were bolstered by our "ringer" Luc Wilson, whose points forced us to enter at S3. Saturday saw some competitive racing at Reading Town Regatta where 3-lane events were held on a stretch of river narrower than our own at Staines. Staines fell foul of this in their first round becoming the "meat in the sandwich" between Milton Keynes and Salford Uni. The clashing was enough for the umpire to award a re-row where the Staines crew were edged out by Salford. Full results here. Marlow Amateur Regatta 19th June 2004 Liz Bernard reports from Marlow Regatta ----- SWPS entered 2 quads in the WJ14 4x+. Both crews rowed well in rough conditions over the 2000m course. The quad consisting of Nell Bond, Vikki Wardle, Sarah-Jane Gregory, Rachel Martin and coxed by Daisy Corfield gained 2nd place, being beaten by Maidenhead. The other quad consisting of Emma Townshend, Sarah Daley, Lucie Bishop, Bianca Stewart and coxed by Tommi Breslin, came in 6th. Full results will be available shortly here. Photos will be available from the 23rd June from Chris Parry, the appointed official photographer. Henley Women's Regatta 18-20th June 2004 Steve Tassell reports on Henley Women's Regatta ----- Staines had mixed fortunes at Womens Henley this year entering two crews an eight and lightweight pair. First the eight. In recent years the regatta has come under stiff criticism that despite its growth to three days the general standard of rowing has not been akin to what you would expect from such a prestigious event. The organising committee took a bold but necessary decision this year by amalgamating the Club and University events for eights and fours effectively reducing the number of middle order crews rowing at Henley. The result was 57 crews going for 32 places with no crews automatically pre-qualifying. Unlike mens Henley the first round effectively runs as a processional race with the fastest 32 crews racing the next round later the same day. For those regular readers of the news section you will know that we started the year with a big intake of novices, from this squad we picked an eight. Given the qualification criteria for Intermediate Eights is a maximum of 20 points you can get anything from novice through to senior 2 racing in this event. The plan with the novices this year was to go along for the experience and hopefully provide people a sense of the big occasion and maybe enough of an incentive to come back next year! In order to qualify a novice crew in such an event it was going to need the row of their lives and thats exactly what we got. Going through the start platforms the crew looked calm and composed belying the 9 months of rowing most have done. Staines set off fast and attacking clocking 43 as they crossed the line. Under Dom Foleys expert eye the crew settled to their race rhythm at a steady 37 and there they stayed right through to the end clocking 5:03 on the way some 20 seconds faster than anything theyd done in practice. Whether they had qualified for the next round or not this had been the row we hoped we see and then some! Then the agonising wait. As with mens Henley the results are read out in alphabetical order, however, the wait proved fruitful with Staines qualifying. Win or lose in the next round wed achieved our objective of qualifying for the event proper beating on the way such names as Vesta, Imperial College, Kings College, Southampton Uni all crews that on paper had more boat speed and race experience but bizarrely on the day it seems not good enough to even qualify. And so to the second round race against Nottingham BC. Staines rowed with passion and determination to close on a 3 length verdict, a fine row given the performance to qualify two hours previous. I think all Staines members can be proud of what the novice squad have achieved for the club already this season we now have a core squad that will serve Staines BC very well for many years to come I hope. Given that a majority of the squad have come from Pubs and Clubs last year Ill be watching with interest for this years new intake! Now for the pair. The lightweight pair did not fair so well, in almost an exact replay of last years row in lwt coxless fours the pair were unfortunate to find themselves clashing with Auriol Kensington whilst rowing past the island. Getting off the start in a pair at Henley has got to be one of the hardest courses to steer and it is only a small consolation for Alison Rolt who steered that I think she was very courageous to even take this on particularly as she has only been rowing a year herself. They showed -to possibly the event favourites- that they can match their start speed so we remain hopeful for the Nationals in a months time. For the novice squad now the main objective set at the start of the season was to win novice pots an achievement that will be the icing on what has been a very successful first season for everyone involved. It just remains for me to say a big thank you! to all those who have supported the girls this far, you are all very understanding people! Full results are available on the official website. Also Bigblade has some photographs of the qualifying races. National Veterans Championships 13th June 2004 I am delighted to report that the Vet D4+ won silver medals yesterday at the ARA National Veteran Championships at Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham. The four comprised of Bow-Paul Goldswain, 2-Paul Hopkins, 3-John Lusty, Stroke-Graham Carey and Coxswain-Tom Goldswain. The crew suffered some disruption leading up to and during the event with the short notice withdrawal of thier normal coxswain, Murray Litvak, due to family commitments and a partially working coxbox depriving them of rating readings. Tom kindly stepped into the coxes seat despite his 'senior oarsmen' status and physique! In the semi final and fastest heat of the day, the Staines crew led from the start, beating the best of the rest of the field, Nottingham & Union, in the 6 lane race by 2 seconds. In the final, Staines took a commanding lead off the start, rating at 42 and had a 1/2 length lead by the 250 metre mark. They increased their lead to 3/4 length by 500 metres and maintained it at 750 metres still rating at 39. Staines fast rating and pace started to take its toll at 900 metres with presure coming from Nottingham & Union and the giants rowing for Tideway Scullers. The Staines four fought to the last against the best crews in the country and finished only 0.67 seconds behind the talented Tideway Scullers crew in a photo finish. This result represents a just reward for the Vet D4+ for all the hard work they have put into their training over the preceding months. Full results will be available from a link on the Loughborough BC website or the ARA website shortly. Also see Photographs Page. Reading Amateur Regattas 12-13th June 2004
Steve Tassell sends this report from Saturday's Reading Amateur
Regatta ----- Staines Ladies continued their good form from the Walton/Weybridge
weekend with a hard fought heat win in Senior 3 eights at Reading today.
The crew consisted of Dom Foley (cox), Sarah Tassell, Katy Burke, Suzanne
Reng, Julia Reichel, Helen Williams, Jane Hudson, Anna Behrendt and
Bonny Howes. They had a bye to the quarter-final where they raced Kingston
RC. They didnt have the best of starts trailing Kingston by a
length after only 300m, however the girls then settled into their race
rhythm and stroke by stroke rowed back through to win by ½ length.
In the semi-final they raced Thames and although the outcome of a 3L
loss perhaps was not so surprising, the intelligent and gutsy row was
great to see and a great result considering they were racing two leagues
above their status. The girls have now decamped to Henley RC as their
next race will be at Womens Henley this Friday at 10am in the
first round of Intermediate Eights. We also have Alison Rolt and Jenny
Page competing in LWT 2- on the Saturday at 16:14. On behalf of the
rest of the club I would like to wish both crews the best of luck this
weekend and good racing! Marlow Town Regatta 12th June 2004 Liz Bernard of Sir William Perkins's School reports from todays Marlow Town Regatta ----- Four members of SWPS rowing squad attended Marlow Town Regatta on Saturday 12th June. Bethan Roberts and Charlotte Jackson put up a good fight in their first ever race together, WJ13 2x,being beaten by Tideway Scullers. Sarah-Jane Gregory and Vikki Wardle got through two heats in the WJ14 2x, only to be beaten in the final by a short distance by Tideway Scullers. Both Sarah-Jane and Vikki won their singles heat, WJ14 1x, and met each other in the final. Both sculled a superb race, with Vikki gaining her first win in a single scull. Full results will be available on the official website shortly. Weybridge Ladies Regatta 6th June 2004 Weybridge Ladies Regatta took place today in warm and mostly sunny conditions. Liz Bernard reports that Sir William Perkins's School had a great day and some good heat wins including the J14 quad losing one of their races by 2 feet! Winners medals went the very stylish pair of Bethan Roberts and Emma Townshend in the J13 doubles event. Roger Pailes advises that there was also a win for the Staines Novice four that he coxed comprising of Bow - Claire Sellick, 2 - Ali lake, 3 - Sally Biggs and Stroke - Claire Lovelady. Roger also coxed the WS4 eight that was disqualified in their race against Thames RC for bad steering!!! Steve Tassell adds --- The four comprising of Julia Reichel, Suzanne Reng, Jane Hudson, Sarah Tassell and Dom Foley continued its winning ways, racing in S4 4+ due to winning their novice pot at Walton on Saturday. They beat Guildford Rowing Club in the first round by 2 1/2L, Eton Excelsior by 2 3/4L and Thames in the final by 2 1/2L. Also racing was a novice four comprising of Katy Burke, Lucy Duncombe, Bonny Howes, Jacky Hawkins and Dom Foley which narrowly missed out in a 1/2L verdict to Staines C who then went on to win the event in confident fashion. The A and B fours came together to race in WS48 against Thames who proved to strong on the day but still only lost by 1 3/4L in a spirited row. Its been a great weekends racing for the novice womens squad with some really excellent wins across the board, very well done to everyone with special thanks to Dom Foley for doing an outstanding job coxing both days. The junior section also had a fine day with Jenny Goldswain and Emma Corless of the Staines Junior Squad winning the WJ12 2x. Full results are available on the regatta website. Also see Photographs Page. Walton Regatta 5th June 2004 Walton Regatta took place today with some fine racing by Staines crews. A win for the WNov4+ (Staines A) after beating Eton Excelsior in the first heat, Staines (C) in the second heat and Quintin in the final by 2 1/2 lengths. Also winning were the WS3 eight (Staines B) who beat Staines A in a straight final by 3 lengths. In the Nov 1x event, young Russel Vinson had a great win by beating Craig Twaddle in the first heat then beating Beckett (Tideway Scullers School) in the final by 1 length. This was an exceptional race as Russel was 2 lengths down at one stage and won the race in the last 250 metres. Finally the Vet C 4+ (Vet D 4+ with Ian Mchugh subbing for John Lusty hence rowing VetC) beat Reading in their final by 1 3/4 lengths. Full results are available here. Also see Photographs Page. Monmouth Sprint & Monmouth Regattas 29/30th
May 2004 Rob Oades reports on the weekend's racing at Monmouth
Sprint and Monmouth Regattas ----- Staines Boat Club Junior Squad had
another successful weekend racing at the Monmouth Regatta held this
weekend. On the Saturday (750m sprint!) we had three pots - Jenny Goldswain
in the WJ12 1X and Charlotte Morrison in the WJ14 1x. Charlotte then
partnered Emma Corless to victory in the WJ14 2x. Metropolitan Regatta 29/30th May 2004
Adam Gill reports ----- The Metropolitan Regatta at Dorney Lake is a
big measure for crews gunning for Henley this year, and all the usual
big names were there battling it out. This of course made anything Staines
wanted to achieve even harder, especially when there were some heats
where you had to come in the top 2 out of 6 just to get into a semi-final!
Here a summary by crew: Twickenham Regatta 22nd May 2004 Adam Gill sends this extremely comprehensive report from yesterday's Twickenham Regatta ----- So after the disappointment of the Evesham weekend being cancelled earlier in the month, a large contingent of SBC members trotted downriver to Twickenham Regatta on a chilly but sunny Saturday. The course was a punishing 1250m, on a long left-hand curve with a stagger to compensate for the inside lane advantage that prompted many discussions as to whether it was enough; the result was that the racing was close providing many exciting races. Here's a summary by squad. Juniors (6 entries) There were a total of six junior entries: Russell Vinson in MN1x lost out in a very close race in his first round at the bright and breezy hour of 8am; Rob Oades annihilated his opposition to win J14 singles, and showed everyone how to cross the finish line in a single, by waving to the crowd; the girls always had a pot coming there way as they made up all of the competition in WJ14 singles - however it was Charlotte Morrison who prevailed. Total Pot haul - 2 pots. Women (4 entries) The girls also had an early start, kicking off with the novice VIIIs at 830am; unfortunately they also fell victim to the curve of the course, losing by 2/3 length to Kings College, although the eventual winners were heard complimenting Staines' technical exercises. One of the two Novice fours entered successfully got through a couple of rounds to the final of the novice fours, but again had to do all the hard work round the outside of the bend and held on until the very end with Twickenham winning by 2 lengths. The S4 VIII lost in the first round to the eventual winners. Men (7 entries) In a last minute decision, the whole of the senior men's squad decided to race at Twickenham swelling the Staines entry to 21 crews. The men's novice 4 lost in their first round to the eventual winners of the event from TwRC; the men's s4 four beat Cygnet (2L), then Haileybury College (easily), but then lost out in the final by 3 1/2L. The s2 VIII never really hit a rhythm and were knocked out in the first round by Wadham College. Stuart Simms showed the s3 singles competition how to scull winning two races by a 5 length and an easily verdict to take the s3 1x pot. Putney Town, after the new found camaraderie with Staines from the previous training weekend needed a sub for their s4 VIII; Dom South from the novice four stepped up to aid them to victory over Wadham. This was Putney Town's first eights win in three years, oddly enough since Staines in 2001.... The men's s3 four had a very close race against Kings College in the final, coming though to win by 1/2L. The s2 coxed four comprised of the ergo kings from the senior men's squad and were up against the mighty of Thames who had entered 3 fours in this one event alone - they really wanted this one; Staines spoilt the party by beating Thames B in the final by 2/3 length having been a length down, a victory made even sweeter as one Thames member was overhead saying 'this should be easy' as they attached to the stakeboats! The result prompted an approach from the Thames coach to the SBC men's coach Gideon wanting to know what are training programme was to pull such as result out. The s2 coxless four had a just as an eventful afternoon by beating Thames (again!) to get to the final against TwRC which initially saw Twickenham disqualified due to poor steering. SBC spoke up saying they didn't want to win it like that, and requested a re-row which was granted, going on to win in another thrilling race. These three fours all raced their finals consecutively in the late afternoon and by winning them all led to interesting spontaneous rant from the commentator singing the praises of SBC and our Ozi captain, Steve. Total pot haul - 4. Vets (4 entries) The Vet C IV unfortunately lost out to Thames in the first round, but then doubled into a Vet C VIII to provide two thrilling races, beating Twickenham in the first round by less than a length but then losing out to a very accomplished Marlow in the final by 1 1/2 lengths. The Vet D IV seemed to scare most of their opposition into submission by firstly winning their first round by an easily verdict, then the rest of the opposition scratched; this crew was the fastest four of the morning of the regatta, including senior men fours. Total haul - 1 pot. The total wins for the day were 7, plus the Putney Town helping hand and lots more sunburn all round! ----- Full results are available on the Twickenham RC website. Also see Photographs Page. Poplar Spring Regatta 9th May 2004 Liz Bernard reports about Poplar Spring Regatta which took place today in which the W J14 2x of Sarah-Jane Gregory and Vikki Wardle competed for Sir William Perkins's School. They came second beating some very good crews. The results of the final are as follows ---- 1st 4.01.12 Maidstone Invicta RC, --- 2nd 4.05.66 Sir William Perkin's School, --- 3rd 4.11.45 Lady Eleanor Holles, --- 4th 4.12.13 Henley RC 'A', --- 5th 4.22.73 Dame Alice Harpur School, --- 6th 4.23.89 Surbiton High School. Full results can be found on the Poplar website. Avon County Junior Regatta 8th May 2004 Avon County Junior Regatta, organised by Avon County RC at Coate Water Country Park near Swindon, took place today with some great racing. Rob Oades sends this report on the Staines' juniors success ----- The Staines Junior Squad had a great start to the season at the Avon County Junior Regatta held on Saturday 8th May. The disappointment of the cancelled Evesham Regatta was forgotten as all the squad performed well and returned with seven medal winners. Steve Brett won gold in the J16 1x event as did Thomas Oades and Andrew Frost in the J12 2x. This was a special result as they were rowing up a year. Russell Vinson won Silver in the Novice 1x. James Kell also won Silver in the J13 1x event. For the girls Charlotte Morrison and Emma Parks won a Bronze medal in the WJ14 2x. Well done to all the squad and especially to the medal winners. ------- Pauline Martin submits the following on behalf of Sir William Perkins's School. ----- It has been a very good day for the SWPS girls, in spite of the weather. The WJ 13 4x 300m of Emma Townshend, Bethan Roberts, Heather Stevenson, Ingrid Barnsley coxed by Tommi Breslin gained their first silver medal. Miriam Towie and Bianca Stewart, won a silver in the WJ14 2x 300 m. Gold Medal for the newly formed WJ14 4x+ 700m, in their first event together and looking very competent throughout, of Rachel Martin, Nell Bond, Sara Daley and Miriam Towie coxed by Tommi Breslin. Sarah Jane Gregory and Vikki Wardle progressed through the semi final and gained silver in the WJ14 2x 700m final. In addition to the medal winners, Bethan Roberts and Emma Townshend, WJ13 2x 300m, in their first regatta rowed well. Eleanor Hudson in WJ14 1x 300m, her first single event at a regatta, also did very well. Competing in the final event, the WJ14 1x 700m, Vikki Wardle and Sarah Jane Gregory, shortly after the double event, and Rachel Martin against seven other entrants. Rachel Martin got through the heats and semi final and came fourth in the final. This shows the depth of strength in the squad and is a credit to the coaching team. (Thank you) Pauline The full results will be available shortly on the official website. See Photographs Page. Vesta Veterans Head 21st March 2004 The 22nd Vesta International Veterans' Head Of The River Race For Eights that took place today in very windy conditions had one Staines Vet C crew entered. The race was shortened due to the weather so it started from Putney and finished at Hammersmith Bridge. Coxswain, Clare Wood reports that the conditions were so bad that she was frightened for her crews safety. She described the conditions as appalling and believes the race should not have taken place. Apparently there was no obvious marshalling above the start with crews struggling to hold their boats in position in the high winds for over an hour and were in jeopardy of swamping as they turned into the waves. Several boats were seen to sink including ones from Putney Town and Weybridge. The Vet G Weybridge crew were rescued but their boat was lost for a time. Clare cannot confirm whether all participants were safe and is concerned that many of the people in the water were quite old. Many boats took on a great deal of water including the Staines boat. The results are ---- Staines Vet C Start 45 Finish 37 (11th of 41) 7mins 52.2 secs. This was an excellent result for the Staines crew in the circumstances. The full results (how many stayed afloat and how many sunk) should be available on the official web site shortly. Let us hope that there was no loss of life. See BBC news item. Kingston Head 13th March 2004 Kingston Head took place today with 3 Staines eights competing. The results are ---Staines 'A' S2 Start 13 Finish 23 (10th of 11) 16 mins 26 secs ----- Staines S3 Start 25 Finish 35 (6th of 8) 16 mins 52 secs ----- Staines W Nov Start 64 Finish 74 (2nd of 6) 19 mins 21 secs. Full results are available here. Photographs will be available shortly at Photo-row. Weybridge Veteran and Junior Head 7th March 2004 Weybridge Veteran and Junior Head took place today with 2 Staines crews and 2 Sir William Perkins's School crews competing. Excellent racing from all crews resulted in wins for the Vet D Coxed Four and the SWPS A WJ14 Quad. The Vet D Four were obstructed for the 2nd head in a row, this time by a Molesey novice veteran womens crew who decided to change which arch of Walton Bridge to pass under and steered 45 degrees across the course resulting in the Staines crew having to reverse their boat out of the situation. The crew missed out on trophies after the shield and tankards were withdrawn by the organisers after two other crews in the division pulled out on the day. This was surprising as enough crews had entered the event to qualify the event for trophies. The SWPS A quad had a fantastic row coming nearly a minute in front of the next fastest crew, St. Edwards School. It will be very interesting to see how this ever faster girls crew perform in the Schools Head of the River on the 16th March. Also racing well today were the Staines WJ14 quad coxed by Becky Corless and the SWPS B WJ14 quad who were also coxed by Becky in the second division. They both showed great promise and gained much experience from the day. There was also a win for SWPS teacher and Staines member, Liz Bernard in the WomensVet C Coxed Four rowing for Molesey BC. The full results will be available shortly on the Weybridge website. A few photos of the SWPS winners can be found on the Photographs Page. Women's Eights Head 6th March 2004 The Women's Eights Head of the River took place this afternoon with 2 Staines crews competing. Results are -- Staines A (S2) Start 107 Finish 189 (38th of 40) 22 mins 15.1 secs and Staines B (Nov) Start 271 Finish 216 (7th of 13) 22 mins 41.61 secs. S2 crew member, Anne Uttley reports ----- The SBC WS2 received huge support today from Bob and I just wanted to place on record our thanks to him for being such an uplifting spirit and helping hand. And special thanks also to Sara Sweeney our - it was a talking point she'll admit - breastfeeding cox ( 2 month old son at home) for such a great race. And to all the members of the club for their part. We suffered an unfortunate collision , despite the best efforts to avoid, when we were overtaking a crew and another (v abusive) overtaking crew sandwiched us together to a halt which cost us 20-30 seconds in the run up to Fulham. We dug in to a racing start and went for it. Sarah Fudge who rowed with us once before the race and subbed in to fill Clare Wood's seat at stroke deserves a huge pat on the back. We had a great day, and despite the many hurdles to get there, it was worth every minute. Best wishes, Anne. -- Photographs should be available shortly from BigBlade, Jet Photographic and Natures Images. Full results are available here. Also see the Photographs Page. Adam Gill has submitted a short video clip of the Staines Novice crew. Click here to view it (1.7Mb avi format). Reading University Head 28th February 2004 Reading University Head took place today with 2 Staines eights competing. The S2 eight came 19th overall in the 1st division (11th of 13) in a time of 14 mins 54.6 secs and the S3 eight came 34th overall in the second division (14th of 15) in a time of 15 mins 47.9 secs. Full results are available here. Burway Head 21st February 2004 Good racing today was the verdict of the Staines coaches for the many crews that raced at Burway Head. The only winning trophies went to the Vet D Coxed Four who also won at last week's Molesey Head, today racing at Vet C after Ian McHugh brought his youth and power to the boat in substitution for John Lusty who is on a skiing holiday. This, despite the crew having a major clash just before the finish after being obstructed by a Weybridge Ladies crew and losing an estimated 20 seconds. Ted Dyos praised his juniors even though they had a minor coming together with some bankside bushes. The Sir William Perkins's School J14 quad also had a good race vying for position with the crew in front all the way up the course before taking them near the finish. The results have been combined for both divisions and estimates vary as to the effect the weather conditions had but the general feeling is that the second division took about 15 seconds longer to complete than the first division. The results can be found on the Burway website. See Photographs Page. Paul Goldswain adds ----- The Staines WJ14X had a very good result coming second in their division behind Henley despite never having rowed together before. The crew comprised of Becky Corless (niece of the well known SBC Ladies Champion, Trisha Corless) Rachel Edwards, Emma Parks, Charlotte Morrison and first time cox Jenny Goldswain. The crew were just 1 second ahead of the very competent Sir William Perkins's School. Thanks go to all parents and coaches for their support. Molesey Veterans Head 14th February 2004 Good racing at Molesey Veterans Head today saw the Staines Veteran D Four (Staines II) not only take the class shield but finishing as the fastest four of the day. The crew consisted of Bow - Paul Goldswain, 2 - Paul Hopkins, 3 - John Lusty, Stroke - Graham Carey and Coxswain - Murray Litvak. They finished the two mile course 13 seconds in front of 6 times race winners, Maidenhead Rowing Club, in a time of 9 minutes and 51 seconds. The Sir William Perkins's School J14 quad also won today in a time of 11 minutes exactly against some excellent crews from LEH and Surbiton High School. The second Staines D Four (Staines I) finished in a time of 10 minutes and 23 seconds. Full results are available on the Molesey website. See Photographs Page. Oarsmens Cross Country Race 24th January 2004 The Staines Veteran Women won the team prize at the Oarsman's Cross Country Run which took place in Windsor today. The winning team were Raffaella Del Pero (88th), Anya Hassell (114th), Bonny Howes (128th) and Jacqui Hawkins (135th). Chris Morrell from Windsor Boys Boat Club writes ----- We are having a real problem getting our web site updated by the site hosts. However hopefully attached is the spread sheet (Excel format) of the results. See here for a simplified listing of the results. Remenham Challenge 18th January 2004 The Remenham Challenge took place today in cold but sunny conditions. Staines Boat Club would like to thank all participants, supporters and those that gave their time and services to make it such an memorable day. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves. Here are the RESULTS. Also see Photographs Page.
