National Junior Sculling Head
14th March 2007 Captain, Craig
Twaddle emails ----- Some great news just in from the National
Junior Sculling Head at Dorney Lake. Well done to the WJ18 4x
of Emma Corless (SBC), Charlotte Morrison (SBC), Rachel Martin
(SWPS) and Vicki Wardle (SWPS) who came 3rd out of 22 in their
event and thus win a Bronze Medal. The SWPS WJ18 4x also did
very well and came 11th out of 22 - three of their crew are actually
WJ16. Further results to come. Hammersmith Womens and Juniors Head 25th February 2007 Di Gill sends this Race Report - The Hammersmith Women's and Juniors Head took place yesterday with a Staines Women's crew finally getting to race after all the bad weather - (cox: Aidan) Katie Young, Nikki Browning, Katherine Kran, Katie Stopher, Claire Lovelady, Catherine Blake, Sarah Goldswain, Ali Stevens. The crew had to deal with a last minute change as stroke girl Ruth Moody was taken ill the day before the race. Fortunately Claire Lovelady came to the rescue and after a crew re-jig they were able to take to the water. The last minute change left the crew over pointed and no longer able to race Senior 3; the race organisers allowed the change to Senior 2, but the crew still had the aim of being the fastest Senior 3 crew. Despite this upset, a solid performance was given and the Staines Women did themselves and the club proud. The crew came home in a time of 12:24, which would have made them the clear winners of the Senior 3 pennant, beating the next S3 crew Putney Town by 15 seconds. This time placed the crew 6th in the Senior 2 division, 30 seconds off the winners Mortlake Anglian and Alpha. An excellent result, which proves that the training and all the blisters are paying off. Well done to the crew and coaches and a special thanks to those who came up to support! Full results can be found on the AK website. PLEASE REMEMBER that the WEHORR takes place in 3 weeks time – more supporters needed for that please!! Wishing the girls the best of luck and hoping that they can advance from their start number and break back into the top 100 crews, as the Staines Women did in 2005. Hampton Head 10th February 2007 The results for Hampton Head which took place on Saturday have been published by category and overall.
