Have lots of happy memories, and a whole bunch of B&W photos from that era. Does anyone recall we came about 70th in the head of the river in 59? Photos still clear.
Now bowl with an old rower of that time locally.
Can anyone recall the rowing club that had a piano tossed from its upstairs balcony about that time. I reckon it was at Twickenham, and my friend Hugh Lewis reckons it was Molesey. We both took place in that incident but the actual club is a bit hazy!!!!!!!!! My brother was a bit keen to set fire to the evidence, but our coach at that time got him to put the can of petrol away.

Graham Its got to be the Olympics-going through the photo albums and allsorts! I have attached a recent photo of self for the reunited. In 1959 I rowed 6 in the head, and have a couple of photos that you may like to use on the club web site. For an old fogie such as myself its wonderful to be able to look through the photos on this site, and sort of join in with todays events. By 64 I had come to Sydney and was rowing with Mosman Rowing club where the training sessions were quite strenuous!!!!!!!! Anyway I have sent 3 other photos as separate emails-photo 1, 2 & 3. Keep up the VERY good work. Doug Pritchard

Head of the river 1959. Coach was Mr Galbraith, who enjoyed his gin and tonic, and personally taught me a lot more than just how to handle an oar. Lot of life skills. The crew were Bow Andy Redgrave 2 Derrick Holden 3 John Gray (?) 4 John Redgrave 5 Stan Turner 6 Doug Pritchard 7 Jeff Hayward Stroke Dave Bricken(?) We used to row the boats up through the locks in those days, I dont know if you still do that?. Doug

This one is at "Burway Head 1959", and the crew were Bow John Gray, Andy Redgrave, Derrick Holden, Doug Pritchard, Stan Turner, John Redgrave, Jeff Hayward, Dave Bricken, and the cox was Nikki. We finished second that year. I also went Double sculls with Derrick Holden and we won an enormous trophy from memory. Derrick had Penny Jones on his arm at that time and was most envied. Some of my other B&W `s are now in poor condition.
